Paul Bradshaw Dealing with the spam invasion

It seems we have been infiltrated by spambots. I have now made blog posts require approval, which has stopped most of it - but they are also posting comments to profiles. I'm holding back at the mo but if you want me to make that subject to approval let me know. Also, if you want to be an administrator of the site so that you can ban members who are doing this, let me know. Continue

Dan Howarth Wired UK: is it likely to survive?

So Wired magazine is having a second crack at launching in the UK – this time under the leadership of editor, David Rowan. This has been 11 years in-the-waiting for Condé Nast, who bought the US technology magazine from Wired Ventures in 1998. And it’s hardly surprising it’s waited so long, considering Wired’s first attempt at a UK launch in 1995, which resulted in failure. What is surprising, however, is the timing of the launch. Why has Condé Nast waited until now – the most fragile f… Continue

KIRSTY HIGGINSON The Blunt Side of the World: A look and an opinion of the ever changing world we live in.

Is what I write going to be at all significant in the world today? Will anyone be interested in what I write or think for that matter? This world is brimming with people full of self importance and power. It is full of people who are able to voice their opinions simply because they have the money to buy a big enough speaker to broadcast their thoughts and feelings. Well, I don't have money and the only power I have is in my house and to be honest no one really pays much attention there! So, tr… Continue

This looks like a great site. Just wanted to share with the group where I am and what it is I am studying: I'm completing my PhD in Communications this year at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Paul Bradshaw What you can do on this site

The most obvious way you can use this group is the forums - post a question, or respond to someone else's. I'm hoping this will form a really valuable list of good literature. From there you might set up a group of people with a similar interest - ethics, for instance, or blogging. Or mobile phone journalism. Or online newsgathering. Adding events - conferences in particular - will be very useful. Or you might organise an offline opportunity to meet with people in your area. The blog tool sho… Continue
