Gay Representation - Will and Grace research!

Hey there - I'm attempting to write a research paper about gay representation in the media, and how the tv show Will and Grace might have opened the door for future gay characters everywhere, but how it might have put its characters on such a pedestal that they are too good to be true.
I'm researching the "fag hag" relationship, and if it actually exists in real life.
Does anyone know of a show/film/media outlet of any kind that genuinely presents a gay man with a true hag? Or if you have personal stories that pertain to this topic? I need to know if Will Truman is too good too be true.
